Indiana Dyslexia Legislation (2018)

A 2015 Act defined dyslexia and encouraged in service training but did not make it mandatory. But it did require teacher preparation courses (degree granting programs) to include curriculum that prepares teacher candidates to recognize students not progressing in reading. Because the preservice requirement would not impact existing teachers, be sure to inquire as to assessment and intervention practices at your local school.
