Bye and bye, awareness of dyslexia is rising in Washington State, with legislation requiring early identification by 2021-22 and many independent schools and tutoring centers already open for business. The state branch of the International Dyslexia Association has also produced a helpful resource guide for parents and professionals. |

Washington Dyslexia Legislation (2018)
Washington state legislation defines dyslexia and requires all school districts must “…screen students in kindergarten through second grade” beginning in the 2021-22 school year. This is good news, but 2021-22 is not soon enough for parents of students currently in the system, so you may wish to encourage early implementation of the legislation where possible.
